I had a CT/PET scan yesterday. I cried my way through the radioactive sugar injection, feeling that I was spent. My needle phobias were mostly cured by a hypnotist so it must have been that darn radioactive sugar cube. (Now my clever mind has turned to my nose to protest... I gag and yes, vomit when I enter a the cancer center or now, as it fully develops, use soap that disinfects).
But just before scan, I had a moment alone. I looked at myself in the mirror and suddenly smiled.
"It's over." I said to myself very clearly. And somehow I knew it was.
Today I met with my doctors. Scan clear. And no more chemo. We decided that I have done enough, handled it, and now we're all moving on.
Good work, body.

brilliant, brilliant, brilliant news! So happy for you Renee!

Even though Ellen told me the joyous news yesterday on the phone and then by email I can't help crying, sitting here at my computer. I feel like I am at your graduation,this being the season and all. I am so, so happy for all of you. Here's to finishing your book, growing your family and blogging about whatever moves you if you have time. I love you all in sickness and in health.

I am so very happy for you! This corner of Brooklyn cheers you, cheers you, and cheers you again!
I am remembering a song my grandfather would sing:
The strife is o’er, the battle done;
The victory of life is won;
The song of triumph has begun: Alleluia!
I love you very much. You are in my heart always.

Slacky, You have done it!! I knew you could beat this ugly C and you have done it. You have had a fantastic attitude, tremendous guts, a super family at your side, an outstanding support system, and many goals to reach throughout the ordeal. YOU DID IT. Tears continue to come to me as I think about the journey you have had and the bright future that awaits you. Can't wait to toast with you with our great champagne. When we do David will be toasting with us from the moon while we toast here on earth!!!. All my unconditional love. Mom
