Tom and I started the day with some baby sitting for someone else's kid!
Brad and Amy, good friends, had their second daughter last week, and we were on duty to care for Beatrice (their older girl) while they took the beautiful Mira to the doctor's office. It was the first time for me to meet Mira. I forgot how small they come! She has wild dark hair in multiple baby mohawks on her head. She was swaddled and nestled against Amy's chest. Ahhh... I loved that feeling, having them slung around you as you go about your business, their head always vulnerable for a kiss.
It was fun to follow Beatrice around on her one-year-old adventures. It seems so long ago that Adeline was one, cruising through our house... last year. Only last year. Wow.
Cole told me the other night, as I snuggled with him at bed time, that he loved our house.
"What about it?" I asked curiously. Was it a feeling? I wondered. I hoped.
"Snuggles and suits," he declared.
"Cool," I said smiling.
"And the button," he added as he looked deep into his large tiger's eyes. He'd pulled the tiger, sometimes named 'Stripes' and other times 'Alize,' on top of him. The tiger was now snuggling with us as well.
"What button?"
"The button that turns our house into a robot. I love that."
"We have a button that turns our house into a robot?"
"Yeah," he said, sighing. Mom's so naive he may have been thinking. "It doesn't happen in the night though, not while we're sleeping."
I was relieved to learn it.
