I skipped a few days of my blog last week. My week was packed, and I was getting home very late. Thursday was a pamper prep party for Ecole Bilingue's auction and gala. I was officially the costume designer and helped people put together a costume for the James Bond theme. There was a fantastic make up artist who my friend Catrine arranged and delicious food and much champagne. A great night.
On Friday we met some old Berkeley friends for dinner in Oakland (at a restaurant of which one of them is an investor, Hibiscus). Again, a lovely night.
On Saturday, Mom and I (and many others) helped set up the auction (of which I am the co-chair) while Tom watched the kids. Saturday night was the big event. My feet hurt from the height of the heels, but my body was thrilled with the late night dancing. It was great to let loose with friends and dance the night away. The DJ opened with Lionel Richie "All Night Long," which worried everybody, but then he quickly moved to Hip-Hop and Lady Gaga.
Here we are:
Note that the only bow tie Tom could find on our way out the door was George's miniature one. He wore it well. Takes a real man.
The closer chemo gets, the more I do. I feel better in the final days before it, and know I have only a few days to utilize that energy.
Today was my last day before chemo, and Adeline and I tried to cram in all of the grocery shopping, errands, and laundry for the week. I also decided to try a new diet pre-chemo... nothing. I am on a pre-chemo starvation diet. There is some evidence that it reduces chemo side effects (healthy cells "hibernate" when under stress and cancer cells do not). I have not lost weight on this chemo cycle and so I feel okay about trying it.
Check it out here.
I am trying to prepare myself for tomorrow. After tomorrow, I will be more than half way done with chemo.
