Tom and I went on a date night tonight. We saw Berkeley Rep's "American Idiot" based on Greenday's album. Greenday are Berkeley boys (in fact Billie Joe used to live down the street in Tom's sister's house and used to play at Gilman's cannery). They were at the theater on opening night and during dress rehearsals.
It has some of the same team as "Spring Awakening" which we really enjoyed. ("I don't do saaadness, not even a little bit...")
Yesterday we told the kids about the hospital stay next week, and I think that was sinking in. It was hard to leave. Cole was the one howling, which was unusual. That set off George and Adeline.
Ten minutes after we were gone, Sharmilla called to tell us that they were all fine.
When we came home, I went into the kids. George and Cole slept through my visit. Adeline, not opening her eyes, rolled over and said softly, "You came back." It brought tears to my eyes. She is always alert and aware, even in her sleep. I will have to find a way to communicate what is happening to her.
