July 29 (I think) Wednesday
Sam tried to trick Adeline with various forms of fruit, but she would have none of it. Griffin, our 10-year-old aquarium tour guide and cousin, showed us the Georgia Aquarium. He, George, and Cole parked themselves at a tank window with the laminated fish identification sheet and would have happily stayed there all day. We should have used “benign neglect” and let them. It was school tour noisy and crowded everywhere else, so we moved them (but the noise just followed us).
Atlanta has the biggest tanks ever (I think), and Beluga white whales, but because it was built by Coca-cola it has more of a theme park feel than an aquarium. The whales were beautiful and gently swayed and danced.
The octopus held 2 soft baseballs in his mouth (why and how I’m not sure).
(the very strange and rare IPhone creature on the right).
And the Japanese spider crabs made our boys and Griffin very happy (they’re just funny). But it lacked the grace and honor to the ocean that the Monterey Aquarium conveys. Or maybe I’m just homesick.
Sam’s daughter AK came over for dinner. She was the first cousin I remember holding in my arms. She had a mad thick tuft of hair that stood straight up on the top of her head and was called Anna-Katherine then. This time she held my kids and then ran off with her boyfriend.
Adeline
ran after kitties. George wrestled Griffin. Cole still didn’t seem totally well
and had a hard time going to sleep. Tomorrow we’ll call his doctor.
Kids looking for the kitties first thing in the morning at Uncle Sam's.
